homework.

Homework is a charity organization focused on bringing technology and stem to children. We were tasked with designing a a donation flow that would appeal to a younger audience and compete with larger and more popular donation platforms. This was a partnered group project with a one week timespan to bring from ideation to a finished prototype.

Tools: Figma, Adobe Illustrator, and Procreate.

Role: UX researcher, Ux Copy Writer, Brand Designer, and UI Designer

Constraints: 1 week timespan

The Goal

The Problem

The number of donors in the US appears to be shrinking, because charitable orgs and NGOs aren't keeping up with how modern Americans, particularly millennial and GenZ who want to give. Driving them away from traditional charity organizations and towards mutual aid, where donations are sent directly to beneficiaries without a middleman.

The Hypothesis

We believe the millennial and gen z are able and willing to donate but experience obstacles in the form of not trusting non profit organizations. They donate to organizations that are community based, proven to be open to all individuals, and prefer to see where their money goes in the process.

How might we..

We wrote a How might we statement that we could reference and refer back to as we continued our research.

How might we give Millennials a direct connection to Homework’s cause and beneficiaries so that they can trust Homework enough to donate to?

Interviews.

Let’s ask some young people what they look for in a donation platform.

Design a landing page and donation experience for the Homework brand, an organization that relies on hardware and monetary donations to give kids access to technology..

Research Insights.

We interviewed three different people who all had donated in various ways in the past 5 year. We took all this information and organized it using an affinity map. Through this we found our 3 main insights.

Trouble finding the right fit

Lack of digital ease and accessability

Theses were the three main focuses of our interviews. We thought it was achieve-able to address all three in our solution so we looked into designing with all three in mind.

Lack of connection to beneficiaries

Meet Paola

Accumulating all the info from our interviews we made Paola. Paola is our made upp persona that will help us make design descisions. We then made a journey map to see how Paola might go through the current journey of donating looking at opportunities we could improve her journey.

Task Flow

We created a task flow to determine what flow would work best for our persona Paola.

The Final Sketch

Wire Frames

After some sketching we came to this final sketch solution to build out into wireframes.

After user testing this was the final design we landed on.
